This is one dining place with no pretensions --- just good comfort food the way we remember it. Perhaps a few "twists" here and there, but the product doesn't deviate much from the familiar, the traditional.
Housed in The Forum right smack at the corner of 7th Avenue & 25th Street, it doesn't really look much. But it sure packs a decent crowd that lunch hour we ate there.
You have to honor the resto's roots by ordering the traditional Ilonggo dishes: Chicken Inasal and Batchoy. Typical comfort food, but not exactly outstanding. Let's just say it's good but I've tasted better batchoys elsewhere.
Sizzling Kansi was very tender and tasted real good especially with tons of "sinangag" or fried rice. This beef dish is also available as a soupy dish. Perfect with Tortang Talong (eggplant omelette).
Top the fried rice with a separate order of dilis (local anchovies) and you're good to go. The rice dish has a sprinkling of local shrimp paste called "bagoong" --- yum to the core.
Desserts included the Piaya Ice Cream Sandwich and the Turon. I won't crave for it, but they're enough to satisfy your sweet tooth 😄
