Leura is in the Blue Mountains area, a 2-hour drive from Sydney, more famous for its canyons, mountainview, gorges and falls. In earlier visits, our typical drill is to view the Three Sisters then lunch in Katoomba.
This time around, we just went for midmorn snacks in Katoomba but had our lunch in the equally charming town (if not more) of Leura. Trees were in full autumn bloom and like Katoomba, we delighted in its tiny, quaint shops with old world charm. My neighborhood!
The dining place overlooks some bushland at the back. Open kitchen, simple decor, a corner rack stocked full with gourmet jams and marmalades, absolutely no pretensions.
To this day, I regret not buying their LAMB JAM. Whatever that is. My curiosity unsatisfied. But my belly was! We had Lamb Fry (cooked perfectly in its jus), chicken tandoori (for my sister who loves exotic food), seafood pasta and lasagne with green salad.
Not to forget.... That was good Hillbilly cider we had. Went well with the pasta dishes.
Went home with jolly bellies after that. But still, I should have really bought a jar of those interesting jams!
